Faith. The word is invented when there was scarcity of words to explain things.
It’s by faith that we get explanations of the unexplainable things without getting any explanations at all. Because it’s also by faith that we believe we had already been explained, even though we are not. Whoever made up the word faith? Maybe women did, because only girls are named Faith. Agree? Well…*chuckles*
Faith is revealed when reasons aren’t reasonable at all. When explanations can’t explain at all. For times when no words can tell, faith existed. Faith.
Faith.
What a pesky word. It really disturbs me. Isn’t it a stupid word? Why? Because it only moves people to expect, to pretend, and to ignore reality.
Expect? Yes. Expect. For the sake of the argument, let’s have the existence of God for example. People expect that God lives. With all due respect to our Heavenly Father, I ask for permission to differ. Nobody have seen God. No one yet. I’m afraid to contemplate on this, but somehow there might be no one to see God because there might be no God at all. For the sake of reality, seeing first before believing would have been the logical thing to do.
Pretend? Yes, people pretend that they are spiritually wealthy and have secured a mansion in heaven, maybe to satisfy their dreams they could not achieve here on earth. And if no one can reach heaven because there is indeed no heaven, who will be disappointed and be upset after all? Think about it…
Ignore reality? It’s all because of faith that we do it. Humans are classified as the superior class, and we differentiate ourselves from the lower class of animals. And humans are expected to be rational, to act rationally, think rationally, and speak rationally. But why do we keep on being irrational, in the name of faith? We haven’t witnessed things with our own eyes, but why is it that in the name of faith, we keep on persevering, doing things that cost to much, even though there is no assurance that we’ll even get something in return?
Wait. Before you cast the first stone, listen. I’m not saying that I’m the most logical person here on earth. In fact, I admit that I can be the most illogical. I am one of those who do believe in God. Maybe it’s because of the hope it gives us that sustains us against all odds that we resort to our faith.
In God we trust. And in faith we believe. No explanations needed.
